Well Sunday was travel up day. We got to the office about 8 and the van wouldn’t start. Nothing, not even a cough which was fun, especially as it had just come back from a service! After calling out the breakdown people we got it going, so phoned and cancelled (Green Flag charge for calls from mobiles – cost £6!!) Anyway we loaded and got going, picked up La Roche and were properly on the road by about 10. Then the rest of the day was in the van! We stopped a few times, caught up with Linford at out 4pm stop. Had dinner at a Little Chef in Gretna. I couldn’t eat it all so didn’t get a lollipop
We arrived at the church at 9.10, met our respective hosts and parted. I’m staying with Rachel, with a lovely lady called Rosalyn who is the minister of a Presbyterian Church – the manse and the church are in the middle of the woods. Reminded me of the woods scene in Beauty and the Beast so now slightly freaked out! Had a nice hot shower and washed my hair (less to do in the morning)and setlled into my lovely warm room and comfy bed (and rediscovered the joys of putting your PJs on the radiator)!
Alarm went off at 5.25am, amazingly quite with it! Due to leave at 6.10am and Rosalyn didn’t appear so we knocked on her door but her alarm hadn’t gone off so we went without her, me navigating with the map, being met along the road by who we later discovered was Andy Keel’s host, but we thought was just a random man, to help us find our way! Arrived at the school at 6.40 and unloaded and setup just in time before assembly. We performed an interesting version of Amazing But True, getting all the lines mixed up but hey, they didn’t know! Then we had a couple of hours to do last minute adjustments and plan the next 2 lessons. All the times at the school are strangely precise; our first lesson was 10.51-11.44 where we performed The Watch and What’s It Worth and Taste did some songs. Our next lesson was 11.44-12.37 where we did The Watch and College of Knowledge and had a Q&A time. Then it was lunchtime, grabbed a panini and headed back to the hall where we hold lunchtime events. Today was Meet The Team, with a game of Signature Bingo. After lunch we tidied up a bit and then headed out to the sea!!!!! We climbed on the rocks and then found the best ice cream shop EVER. I had toffee fudge ice cream with marshmallows, fudge sauce, wafers, a flake and a malteaser. SO nice!! Then we headed back to the two Sam’s house for Recharge…Bit of devotional and debrief and plan and pray! Then back to Rosalyns (by my amazing map reading again), watched Eggheads (new presenter…what?!), had spaghetti bolognaise for tea and then got my laptop hooked up to the wireless, then watched Made of Honour (aaah girly film), episode of Friends and now i’m going to have a shower, wash my hair and snuggle up in bed – can’t wait!! Lie in tomorrow, don’t have to leave til 7.30am wooo!!! (how often do you get to be excited about getting up at that time?!)
